Great work ! i appreciate your video Keep going !
Brian, these videos are helpful. But you have to follow university courseworks-like organized approach on why we should learn this? where and how to apply? etc. etc. I watch these videos but not sure what actually I'm doing?!?!!
Thanks for the feedback! This video is a bit out of place since it's not associated with any particular playlist. However, this video is also quite advanced so it's targeted towards individuals that already have a basic understanding of cloud computing, notbaly with Google Cloud, and working with FHIR. If this video is too complicated, I'd encourage you to start with some basic FHIR videos first. Once you're ready to get deeper into the weeds with implementation, this will be a great place to start!
@@briankfung Thanks. Now I get it. That's why these videos are going above my head: Advanced as well as unorganized. For basics, I've been looking CDC FHIR 101 and 102 video and/or webinar links which you promised to share with us. Looking forward to that and also keep doing the good work.
Thanks for your series of FIHR videos that make me understand more about FIHR and it's application in healthcare data exchange.
Thank you, I will return my butter knife to the kitchen.
Thanks man. This is what UA-cam is all about.
❤️
Thankssssss bro
thank you, i was confused too
Np!
Hi! I would like make researchs about Biomedical Informatics field by go to the Biology undergraduate / CS minor and Medical Biology or Bioinformatics MSc. What do you think about the future of the Biomedical Informatics? I have crazy ideas and feel so excited :) Do you have any suggestions for me?
Thanks Brian for addressing my questions in this video regarding CDC FHIR 101 and 102. I googled a lot about it but didn't find. Hope you will find the links and/or make a separate video soon. Can you please send me the link of the webinars? (I'm not sure why I'm not getting anything about it. I wonder, is there any geo-restrictions!!!). I'm from a low income country and the rate for those HL7 and FHIR is still high. I also checked some UA-cam videos based on your previous suggestions but those are long talk-show/theoretical whereas I want hands-on training/lab type videos where I will be able to learn actual work that I might have to do. Looking forward to hear back. TIA
Hey Brian, any update on this. Please reply.
Dude 2 years later and I was about to drive myself to have my brain tested just before I was about to fire my a7V off the wall... THANK YOU man, seriously
Awesome content lecture bro
Good afternoon, I am currently a health care Administrator, I’m familiar with with few EHR systems. How and where can I get Epic certified. Thanks.
Great intro video
Hi Brian, I've googled a lot regarding CDC FHIR 101 and 102 courses but was unable to find anything. Can you please give me the link of those trainings? I also checked HL7 and FHIR fundamentals on their website but these huge costs. Can't afford. any free solutions/resources to understand the basics from clinical background? TIA
Bless you I was about to cry
Which type of Authentication you are using in the postman. My requests are not being processed in postman.
None actually. The FHIR Server i'm using is Hapi.
@@briankfung Its working for me too.
Where would one acquire the base study guide for the certification proficiency route?
you'd get it from epic userweb - which requires you to be affiliated with an Epic organization (e.g. hospital that uses Epic).
@briankfung ok I work and have worked with epic for a little over 5 years now in the clinical side but will have to take a further look for this. Thanks!
@@thaguccilifeoflou gotcha. Yeah, if you're working at a hospital or health system on the clinical side, you can use that email from the hospital or health system you're affiliated with to create an account at epic's userweb. Once complete, you can access all the training materials on the epic userweb.
Good Videos, Thank You!
Glad you like them!
Hi Brian, can you please give us a snapshot to work with FHIR? job availability?
This is a great question! I'm actually not sure. I don't imagine there is a great way to measure how many jobs there are out there that will require it either. Two things though: 1) I think the technical folks who are deep in the weeds will notice fhir-related jobs sooner relative to clinical folks because FHIR is generally targeted towards developers, and 2) clinical folks, especially those that work in informatics, should likely see it trickle into job descriptions over time.
@@briankfung Hi, thanks for the response. For the clinical folks; what are the roles they actually play? Is it desk related data input type jobs similar to Pharmacovigilance in case of pharma products? What about the remuneration? TIA
It's probably all over the board since FHIR is so new - and the clinical folks in FHIR are so new. Pros and cons since the world is our oyster in that we can probably define our own roles. Though, I think the way HL7 laid out their foundation Exam can be used to get an idea of the types of roles that could be available: architect, developer, analyst, and profiler. As to your question about desk-related data inputs. I'd think that'd be a terrible position for someone with a clinical background. I'd think clinical folks getting into roles where FHIR is required would be a very specialized position and not a simple data inputs role. Renumeration probably differs quite a bit. I'd guess the minimum would be six figures going beyond for unique roles in certain industries like pharma and tech.
@@briankfung Hi, thanks for sharing your thoughts and I completely agree with your answer (especially 2nd part). However, as your answers are more guesstimate than actual fact. I would highly highly request you to make a video about it inviting guests who can talk about some of the roles and what are their day to day be like doing what and remuneration range.
Good evening I'm a 200 level pharmacy student in Nigeria pursuing a BPharm, I'll to go into pharmacy informatics. What are the requirements, do I need to have pharm D, which school can I study pharmacy informatics after graduation with B pharm or can I start my study online while still a student. Thanks
Hi guys want to ask few questions regarding part time MPH how can we connect !
Where can I find this awesome app ?
Thankyou.. i thought i was gonna break it too
Companies will gladly hire the corn-fed white boy before anyone else. Even before the white female.
Thanks, that had got me stumped.
Can you provide link to your notebook
Hi brain, what’s the difference between the foundation exam and the proficiency exam please . Thanks.
I am a manual and automation tester working in healthcare domain for the past 14 years..what should i register for now? Foundation?
My name is Akash. I need and must to score good marks in Maya. So please sir as soon as possible allow and tell to me 1) how we can create hut easily and fastly in maya for beginners. 2) how we can create stylised house easily and fastly in maya for beginners. 3) how we can create well easily and fastly in maya for beginners . And 4) how we can create curtains using ncloth in maya for beginners. Thank you sir.
Hi Akash, I'm not sure I understand your question here as I'm not familiar with Maya. Sorry I'm not able to help!
god bless you
:)
that’s a chihuahua
Some type of mix prolly
Bruh ... thank you.
Np!!
I am certified in Beacon, amb and clin doc. I don't work in that department anymore, but I would like to keep my certifications valid. I'm not confident that my employer will cover the cost (I'm still associated with the facility and have a proctor). I need to know how much the tests cost to keep up the certifications.
That’s a great question. If you’re still with the same employer, you should, I assume be able to still use same process and proctor to take the tests every year. If there are costs associated, you’ll want to ask your employer.

I have researched your channel. Your videos are great. Your videos should be on your target audience list. But the problem is, your videos are not reaching your audience. As a result your channel views are not increasing and channel is not growing. So, there are three ways to grow your channel. 1. The organic way. Channel Optimizing and Video SEO. After doing these processes your channel grows organically. But this will take time. And you have to be patient. 2. Offline video promotion. Promote your videos on different social media platforms and through different sites. 3. Google advertising campaigns are run. Generally everyone promotes videos through Google Ads campaign.
Thx for the tips!

what are the salary expectations for nursing Informatics?
it probably differs quite a bit based on where you live and which org you go to, but median probably around 100k (www.glassdoor.com/Salaries/nursing-informatics-salary-SRCH_KO0,19.htm). I usually think of it as a the level of a manager or supervisor.
Great video, I have two questions. Can we transfer data from mac or pc via usb/thunderbolt directly with network attached ? Just like DAS. Second - Do you recommend this? Howz your user experience so far?
Yep, can transfer and use data directly via DAS. It's what I do for editing. I can't say I have strong recs or dislikes against it since it's my first NAS. It has been serving its purpose thus far, so I'm happy with it. The UI/software could be a bit more intuitive, but I knew that coming in. I'd probably search around for comparisons though since I've only used QNAP.
@@briankfung there are no NAS devices which can be used as DAS. Only QNAP can be used as DAS as they have thunderbolt connectivity. Do you know any other by chance ? Also, is yours i3 version?
I’d love to support your project. I’ve got a teeeeeny amount of front end and fhir background
thanks for the offer! I'm not currently exploring expanding my 1-man/solo team at the moment to ensure I can launch something of value on my own first. However, once I pick up momentum, I'll look to expand to others.
Hello Brian! Just stumble upon your video. Im a P1 and working my way to become an informatics pharmacist. I found your video helpful! 😊
Rooting for you! Keep me posted on your journey as you progress through pharmacy school :)
Thank you so much
Any time
But remember one thing, Chinese anthropologists trace Chinese roots back to East Africa....
True. I might have a bit of that blood in me in then :)
@@briankfung YEP. That's one reason why I don't understand why a lot of Chinese in Africa today practice JING Crow (e.g., barring Blacks from restaurants). What happened to ancestor reverence??
And if you really want a good 411, read works by gentlemen like J A Rogers, Ivan van Sertima and Runoko Rashidi.

I work in patient access in a hospital that uses Epic. I use Epic on the daily. Do I have a good chance of my supervisor sponsoring me to get the training?
That's a good question and not sure how helpful my response would be. However, I tend to see individuals that are most likely candidates for opportunities like that are those that not only use the system, but are also 'super users' or 'experts' of it that they end up helping their colleagues to use it better. Or help brainstorm ways to optimize its use. If you fall into that category, that probably gives you a good chance. Also, you should bring it up to your supervisor if that's part of your goal!
Hi, I applied for Junior System Admin and I've scheduled EPIC SKILL ASSESSMENT exam for next week. Is there a way I could take a practice exam? Thanks 😊
Hm, this is a great question, but I'm not sure. I don't think so either..? If it's similar to the sphinx exam, it's usually a test of logic and reasoning since that's how Epic configs usually work. Just be wary of orgs out there that charge lots of money for things like that. There may be some blogs or forums where ppl talk about this. Sorry not more help!
Deleted my old comment. Don't do it. I'm glad that I'm not doing this.
It's a tough job market out there :/
Ate nakakaantok😡😭😭😭

As a staff U.S. pharmacist, I believe that most pharmacists work under much more pressure than most doctors ( exception is surgery or anesthesiology or those doctors who conduct complex medical procedures requiring high level of skills). Pharmacists are expected to work with 100% accuracy. Almost all mistakes that are made by pharmacists are considered preventable, and, therefore, pharmacists are liable for them. While doctors are also expected not to make medical mistakes, many mistakes will be determined as non-preventable, and , therefore, doctors will not be found liable by medical boards and courts. Most medical practices require that you sign a consent, which pretty much releases doctors from liabilities arising form medical incompetence. Moreover, with good legal representation, most preventable mistakes made by doctors will be "converted" to non-preventable mistakes by good lawyers. At least 50% of doctors don't know what they are doing, however, it is not required of them to know because they are so much unknown in the world of natural sciences. On the other hand, when it comes to pharmacy everything is pretty much known! There is little "unknown" area in pharmacy. Therefore , it will be highly expected from your employer and pharmacy board that you know what you are doing! If time, money and other resources allow, become a doctor ( think twice about surgery or anesthesiology), and it will be much less stressful than working as a pharmacist! Becoming a doctor is much more difficult than becoming a pharmacist. However, working as a doctor is easier than working as a pharmacist! Most doctors take educated guesses, and this is how they actually learn about the "right" way of treating a patient.
Thank you. I was having that problem!
Glad it helped!
I love the way you tell stories - very authentic and genuine. I am a pharmacy student preparing for residency interviews, and your videos have been very helpful!
thanks for the kind words! I'm glad you've found some my videos valuable too - best of luck as you go through your interviews!
